The nearby water sports shops along the beach offer everything from snorkelling to deep sea diving, sailing and fishing trips, swimming with the turtles and more. The hotels and restaurants are numerous and nearby, one of the 'in-spots' to eat is at the Lone Star Restaurant. Or, even closer still for an excellent choice of breakfast, lunch or dinner overlooking the sea is the Royal Pavillion itself.

If you walk south along the beaches (all of them are public) you will come to Holetown. Alternatively the nearby bus stop or taxi rank at the Royal Pavilion will take you by road.

Holetown, just half a mile away, is where the first English settlers arrived in 1627. It's a buzzing town with a supermarket, bank, doctors surgeries, post office, police station, internet cafe's, copious restaurants, big screen TV bars for sports enthusiasts, duty free shopping, gym and tennis courts. Keep going and you will come to the Sandy Lane Hotel with its famous guests and golf courses. For golfers, the Royal Westmoreland Golf Club is just one mile behind Porters Court.

Further on again and Bridgetown, the Capital, offers more shopping, boating, night clubs for the very young at heart, and all the city banks and facilities. A bus journey from Porters will cost Bd$1.50 and the bus stop is just near the villa. In fact, buses are all Bd$1.50 for as long as the journey takes. Or why not take a jet ski for lunch at one of the beach front restaurants?

To the North more beaches take you to Speightstown. Here there are art shops, a supermarket, street vendors selling home grown vegetables and fruit. The Fisherman's Pub on Wednesday nights has a steel drum band and traditional cuisine.

Grantley Adams International Airport is 45 minutes drive along the highway and is clearly signposted.
